“The root cause of all disease is a negative attitude about taking care of yourself” Caroline Myss
Ah how often do I tell people that they need to take care of themselves before they can take care of others. Yet so many of us are conditioned to be care-takers… to give back… or simply to pay it forward… This is a wonderful gift to the world, but is unfortunately putting our own health at risk. How about we make a pact and ALL (yes, me too) listen to this advice!
We all know that eating better, exercising more and lowering stress will have a significant impact on our lives. But who has time for that (I say, half jokingly)? Here are some things we can all do that take little to no time at all, and can have as big of an impact on your health as eating you vegetables.
1. Obviously the best thing to do would be to get rid of the things that cause you the most stress in your life. This isn’t always possible, but I know you’re thinking of at least one thing that you could eliminate. One thing can make a huge difference!
2. Speak positively! Whether you are saying something negative about another person, about yourself or even about the weather, this has an actual chemical impact on your system. And it takes at least 3 positive feelings to chemically counteract 1 negative one. Try this!Maybe you find yourself stuck in traffic. Being mad about it isn’t going to get you there any faster. Maybe you could be thankful that you have this time to yourself to listen to your favorite podcast.
3.Be Grateful! Take just 5 minutes every day to think of the things you are thankful for. If you keep a running list, you might be surprised at how many amazing at how many amazing things you have in your life.
