Is there an alternative to the flu shot?

Is there an alternative to the flu shot?

Of course there is! I apologize to those of you who don’t live close enough to drop by and get one, but hopefully you can find a licensed ND near you offering something similar. And at the very least, hopefully this will help you be more informed about whether or not you want to get the traditional shot.

At Bukovina we offer a natural flu prevention shot. It contains homeopathic medications that fight together to ward off the flu, as well as other infections that can cause the common cold. This injection works by stimulating the natural immune response against symptoms of the flu. It also strengthens the nonspecific defense system of the body to prevent any virus or bacteria from infecting you. In-vitro studies show that this injection stimulates the immune system to perform at 41% higher than its natural reaction. Not bad, right? And to top it off, it’s safe for anyone and has no side effects!

The traditional flu vaccine contains an actual virus that has been killed. It works by showing the virus to your immune system. In response, your immune system will make antibodies against this specific virus so that if you encounter the live virus, your body can quickly fight it off. Keep in mind that here are the possible side efects from “The Flu Shot”:

soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given – hoarseness – sore, red or itchy eyes – cough – fever – aches – headache – itching – fatigue – young children who get inactivated flu vaccine and pnemococcal vaccine (PCV13) at the same time appear to be at increased risk for seizures caused by fever – life-threatening allergic reactions from vaccines – Guillain-Barré Syndrome

If you can’t swing by here for a flu shot, consider using something like Oscillococcinum. It’s an over-the-counter homeopathic flu medication, also without side effects!

      Hi Brook,

My best recommendation is to go to Pennsylvania’s Naturopathic Physician Website (www.panp.org), search for an ND nearby and give them a call. Of course, you can always have them contact me if they need to!

      Dr. Cari
